Villanueva de la
Jara is a small town in the autonomous community
of Castilla-La Mancha in the center of Spain. It
is placed in the South of the province of
Cuenca, about 85 Km. far from this city and
about 55 North of Albacete. It is about 2 hours
East of Madrid and less than 90 minutes West of
Valencia.
The town has
around 2,400 inhabitants, most of them dedicated
to the agriculture and to the growth of
mushrooms in particular.
It has a lot of
monuments, among them we can point out the
Parish Church and the Town Hall, both of them
built in the 16th century.
The best time of
the year to visit Villanueva de la Jara is
during the summer months. The inhabitants
celebrate their patron saint on August 5th, and
there are celebrations throughout the week. |
